There's Something About: Me!

I'm not sure where to begin, but I guess I'll start with my blog title. Michiko is my middle name. It's Japanese and I'm named after my mother's sister. My mother is from Okinawa, Japan and my father met her when he was in the USMC.

I am happily married to a wonderful man, who chose to serve in the military and I support him 110%! I was a military brat and now I'm a military wife. We've been married for 17 years and together for 17 years and 10 months. When you know, you know! We have 3 kids - 2 boys and 1 girl. We have a yorkie and a huge saltwater fish tank (my husband's hobby).

I grew up in sunny southern California, but now live on Long Island, NY. And, yes, I miss Cali, especially the warm weather.

I always "think positive." I love PURPLE. I wish I had more time for crafting and scrapbooking. I run even though I hate it. I always try to live life to the fullest. And am thankful for God and the many blessings in my life.

I work outside of the home and never feel like there are enough hours in the day. And then I decided to add to my never-ending list by starting this blog. I decided to start it when my husband was deployed. I thought it would be a way for him to read up on what was going on at home, and for our family and friends to see what was going on, too. It's easier to write a blog then call a ton of people to let them know how we're holding up.

  1. I've always said you always have a great attitude. I love that about you. Life has not jaded you at all and that's refreshing and rare. Miss you

  2. Hi Michiko,

I LOVE your name :). I'm from Hawaii and my dad was also in the military so I know how it feels. Thank you for linkin up with linkin with my ladies! I'm a new fan :)

  3. Your dog is so cute!! Newest follower and Marine wife :)

  4. LOVE that picture of your dog! I am sure you must miss California. I know what you mean about the cold weather-I'm in NJ so pretty close by. My husband isn't military, but he is a police officer. I imagine it must be very hard when he is deployed and writing a blog seems to be a great idea to keep everyone up to date. I am now following you on Bloglovin' as well.

  5. New follower visiting from the blog hop! I was immediately drawn to your blog because of your name--I'm Japanese, so I felt a bit of a connection :) I'll be looking forward to your posts!
