There's Something About: Nanie's Birthday

Nanie is my mother-in-law. "Nanie" is what she likes to be called by her grandchildren. So, that makes it easier for me in that I don't have to come up with a nickname. Yay!

Nanie & me!

Nanie celebrated a big birthday milestone this year and wanted to have a family dinner at her favorite Japanese hibachi-style restaurant. That meant a reservation for 22 people! Thankfully, we all fit at one table, which I'm not sure you would really call a table. It was more like a donut shape with an opening on one side where the chefs enter to get to the center to prepare our hibachi meals. I'm just saying I don't know if there's an official name for it.

Anywhooo, each half of the "table" had a hibachi station where the chefs performed their antics - I mean, cooked our food. It was soooo much fun! They flipped their utensils in the air and sang funny songs.

The funny one!

One chef was absolutely hilarious. He really engaged us and made jokes and funny comments. Once he realized Nanie was the birthday girl, he kept calling her "mamacita" and it just cracked us up! Then he called Lightning "sexy sexy boy" which totally embarrassed him, but it was so cute.

The chefs threw food at all of us - one at a time, of course - and we were supposed to catch it in our mouths! Not as easy as it sounds! Some of the kids didn't even try to catch the food and just let it hit them in the face. They must've been so confused. Whoever heard of being allowed to throw food at people?

Lightning wanted more cake!

After we were done eating, Nanie opened her presents and then we had some cake. I think everyone had a great time. I'm trying to come up with a good reason to go again. Until then...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANIE!
